Who can take Adult Education classes?
Anyone age 16 or older in need of a high school diploma, English proficiency training, or other basic education can register for classes.

Why are Adult Education classes unique?
Adult Education classes are designed to assist you in meeting your personal, professional and academic goals in the areas of work, family, community involvement, and further education. A variety of instructional techniques are offered, including:

  • Participatory curriculum 
  • Project-based approach
  • Learner-directed techniques
  • Goal setting
  • Technology-based learning 
  • Individualized student plans

What types of teaching materials are used?
You create your own authentic materials based on your goals, including class yearbooks, autobiographical stories, calendars, essays and news articles, photo journals, and digital stories. We also use audio and video tapes, pronunciation tapes for English language acquisition, and educational computer software.

Who are our teachers?
All teachers are certified in Adult Education. Many have master’s degrees in specialized areas, such as English language acquisition, curriculum development, and reading.

What classes are available?
Courses can help prepare you to take the GED. We also provide courses in citizenship, civics, English language acquisition, family literacy, math, reading, and writing. You also have access to the computer labs to supplement your classroom work.

Where are classes taught?
Classes regularly take place in Benson, Bisbee, Douglas, Sierra Vista and Willcox and also may be available in other areas of Cochise County.
