2007-2008 Rodeo Team
team

Cochise College offers those interested in rodeo an opportunity to learn and grow with the sport. Each individual has the option of obtaining coaching and assistance from both the staff and their peers. Lessons in responsibility, leadership, maturity, pride, dedication, and success are all a part of the Cochise College rodeo program. These values are taught through serious competition and hard work, and are necessary for the competitor to become "a true winner." The challenge of College rodeo at Cochise is unequaled in the Grand Canyon Region.  In fact, many feel that the Cochise College rodeo program is the "best in the west."

ropingHeritage
Cochise College rodeo is serious business. Every year since the birth of its rodeo program Cochise College has been represented at the CNFR. Cochise is very proud of that winning tradition.

Unlike most schools, Cochise offers rodeo as a major school athletic sport. This means that the rodeo program receives the funding and support from the community necessary to maintain a winning program.

Scholarships and Financial Aid
Information about scholarships, grants, loans and student employment can be obtained through the Cochise College Financial Aid Office.

Practice sessions occur four days a week under the supervision of the coaching staff. Individualized practice may also be scheduled. The College provides stock for calf roping, team roping, steer wrestling, goat tying and some bulls and horses are available to buck out. The facilities include four practice pens, a team roping arena, calf roping lane, a bull riding pen, and a warm up area. The warm southern Arizona climate allows for practice and competition year round. The availability of amateur rodeos and PRCA rodeos will allow the student to compete almost every weekend.

Animal Boarding
Cochise College has facilities on campus for the boarding of animals used for competition in the NIRA Grand Canyon region. Pipe stalls, as well as trailer parking areas and barn facilities are available for use during the school year. Each individual is responsible for the care and feeding of his or her animals and the maintenance of his or her equipment and tack.
