Committee Recommendations

Below are links to the recommendations for implementing electronic portfolios at Cochise College. The two proposals result from nearly four years of research into the rapidly growing theory and practice of academic electronic portfolios and an exploration of the ways in which eportfolios may be integrated into the our curriculum to benefit the college and our students. (To learn more about this research and exploration, please visit the About EPICC and Pilot Projects pages, where you can view student portfolios and read the reflections on the pilot projects from students and instructors.)

These recommendations were produced by:

  1. Jeff Sturges, one of the co-facilitators of EPICC, wrote the first draft.
  2. That draft was submitted to George Self, chair of the Electronic Portfolio Committee; Janet Martinez-Bernal, director of Title V (which helped significantly in funding the EPICC projects); and Roy Lea, co-facilitator of EPICC.
  3. Changes and additions were made to the draft recommendation.
  4. An abridged version of the recommendation was also prepared.
  5. The two versions of the recommendations were submitted via email to the Cochise College Electronic Portfolio Committee.
  6. Committee members were invited to comment upon and make suggestions for revision before the proposals were put before the college as a whole. Committee members were also invited to express whatever thoughts they had, whether they concerned only a small piece of the complete proposal, the very concept of an eportfolio, or something in between. At the time this page was created, committee members had provided no comments. Any comments made now will be posted on the Comments page.

We created both a formal and abridged version of the proposal. To get the overall picture of how we recommend eportfolios be integrated into the Cochise College curriculum, the viewer can read the abridged version. However, to get a more in-depth view of the recommendations and, most importantly, the justification for the recommendations in the form of a “Statement of Need,” we suggest that viewers read the longer formal proposal. You may want to print these documents for easier reading.
