Nursing Assistant The Cochise College Nursing Assistant Certificate program prepares students to care for sub-acutely ill clients and to work as a member of the healthcare community. | These programs are organized on the "career ladder" concept:
- At the end of the first year, students are eligible to apply to the State Board of Nursing to take the licensed practical nurse examination.
- Upon completion of the second year, students receive an associate of applied science degree and are eligible to take the State Board of Nursing examination to be certified as a registered nurse.
Completion of the program does not guarantee passing the state board examinations.
These programs teach you practical skills and offer hands-on experience through a combination of lectures, laboratories, and clinical assignments.
Clinical sessions may be scheduled on weekdays, weeknights or weekends at hospitals and health agencies across Cochise and Santa Cruz Counties.
Lectures are provided on the Sierra Vista Campus one day a week with labs held on the Douglas and Sierra Vista campuses and at the Benson Center, with plans to have a lab at the Nogales Center by spring 2008. Students provide their own transportation to their clinical assignments, as well as to the Douglas and Sierra Vista campuses for classes. |
