Honors ContractDownload Honors Contract here (PDF) To be used for HON 250 (grade and credit), or honors contracts (no grade and non-credit), or as determined by the Honors Committee. See Policy 5121 and Procedure(s) 5121.1-7, Honors Program bylaws. The Cochise College Honors Committee invites all faculty members to consider being mentors in the Honors Program. The Honors Program includes courses for credit(s): HON 250 Individual Project; ENG 102H English Composition, HON 251 Honors Seminar, and HON 255 Leadership with honors designation and non-credit honors contracts. Students enrolling in HON 250 may register for a maximum of four credits. HON 250 is a graded course. HON 250 course requirements are in accordance with Cochise College policies and procedures. Specific course content for HON 250, goals and objectives, procedures and methods of evaluation are determined by mentor instructors in conjunction with the Honors Committee. The Honors Committee believes two credits of creatively advanced work in HON 250 should be the equivalent of a three-credit upper-division course. An honors contract is completed concurrently with a scheduled course the mentor instructor is teaching and for which the honors student registered. Honors students who complete honors contracts without registering for HON 250 do not receive credit or a grade for their completed honors contract. Completion or non-completion of such an honors contract does not affect a student’s course grade or whether or not a student receives credit for a course. Students completing honors contracts other than in HON 250 will have the course appropriately designated by the college registrar on student transcripts. Note: When appearing on transcripts, HON 250 does not indicate course content. The Honors Committee recommends mentors use their discretion when inviting students to enter the Honors Program. These students must have completed 12 credits and have a GPA of 3.5. However, the Honors Committee may, at its discretion, waive this standard. The Honors Committee limits mentors with students registered in HON 250 to a cumulative total of four credits per instructor each semester. Mentor and student each should retain one copy of the completed and signed Honors Contract. A third copy must be sent to the secretary/treasurer of the Honors Committee. Near the end of the semester, a form for reporting HON 250 grades and completed/non-completed honors contracts will be sent to mentors.
