Facts at a Glance

Cochise College offers affordable, top-quality education and flexible learning options in the unique setting of Cochise County – a crossroads of cultural, natural and historical features.

Cochise County voters agreed to the establishment of a community college district in 1961. Cochise College opened its doors in 1964 as one of the first community colleges in Arizona.

Today, we are the largest rural community college district in Arizona. The college serves students at two full-service campuses in Douglas and Sierra Vista and at learning centers in Benson, Fort Huachuca, Nogales and Willcox; via the Internet; and at locations throughout Cochise County.

Throughout the institution’s history, college programs have focused on transferable degrees and direct-employment training. We provide associate degrees, certificate programs, and the first two years of a baccalaureate degree; many Cochise College students benefit from seamless articulation with Arizona’s public universities. The college also is home to outstanding athletic programs and hosts cultural and arts programs, conferences, and visitors from both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border.

While the last four decades have witnessed many changes, providing the residents of Cochise County with accessible, affordable, high-quality education remains Cochise College’s top priority.
