High school juniors and seniors in the Running Start Academy attend classes at their high school in the morning and attend classes at Cochise College in the afternoon. As Cochise College students, they are eligible to take advantage of all student services and activities, including tutoring, mentoring and testing. Currently, this program is available at the Sierra Vista Campus.
Running Start Academy program is available for students who plan to go into fields related to science, technology, engineering or math (STEM). Check out the program’s course progression, then find out more by viewing frequently asked questions.
Application acceptance for the 2016-2017 academic year has been closed. If you have any questions, please email email@example.com.
Students who are admitted to a Running Start Academy at the beginning of their junior year and those who successfully complete the recommended coursework earn 40 – 42 college credits by high school graduation. Reverse credits apply toward high school graduation. After graduation from high school, students can complete an associate degree or transfer the credits to a four-year college or university. Because many STEM fields require a four-year degree or beyond, the program focuses on essential undergraduate math and science requirements and is of particular value to students planning to transfer to a university upon graduation.
Cochise College provides accessible educational opportunities that are responsive to a diverse population and lead to constructive citizenship, meaningful careers and lifelong learning.
