Window Doesn't Open in Equation Editor

Question. I am trying to use the equation editor in my math class and the window doesn't open.

Answer. There could be a couple of reasons for this problem.

First, if you are using some sort of "Popup Blocker" software on your computer, it could be interfering with the equation editor. Disable that software for a few minutes and then try starting the equation editor again. If this works, check to see if your Popup Blocker software permits you to specify a website as "OK" and add the equation editor to that list. If your Popup Blocker does not permit an "OK" list, then you'll have to disable it every time you want to access the equation editor.

Second, the equation editor relies on a recent version of the Java Virtual Machine, which you can download for free from Sun Microsystems (http://java.com/en/index.jsp). You need to install that software on your computer before the equation editor will work.
