CurriculumĀ Development Process
The following outlines the curriculum development process to request changes to existing curriculum or to initiate new courses and programs.
Originator
- Reviews the resources available on this website and researches similiar curriculum at other institutions.
- Solicits feedback within and outside the department if appropriate.
- Prepares the curriculum proposal using the appropriate form posted on this website.
- Reviews the proposal with instructional manager and affected faculty across the district.
- Incorporates feedback from instructional manager and faculty.
- Forwards proposal to the Transfer Analyst within stated deadline.
- Works with Transfer Analyst to finalize proposal in clear grammatical form and wording, as well as consistent format.
- Attends the Curriculum Committee meeting to answer any questions raised by the committee.
- Reworks and resubmits any proposal that is not approved by the committee.
Curriculum Committee
- Receives curriculum proposals from Transfer Analyst within appropriate time frame prior to curriculum meeting.
- Reviews proposals prior to meeting for quality rationale, accuracy of content, clarity of wording, and consistency of format.
- Discusses and approves proposals during curriculum meeting, clearly stating any required changes that need to be made prior to forwarding the approved version to the Vice President for Instruction/Provost.
Final Approval
- Final approval is granted by the Vice President for Instruction/Provost (for modifications or deletions) or by the Governing Board (for new curriculum only).
- Official proposals become part of the college's curriculum listing which is available by using the search links on the left menu of this website.
- The college community receives email notification from the Transfer Analyst once the curriculum website is updated with new, modified, and deleted curriculum.
