An Evening at the Races 2019

Saturday, April 27 5 p.m.-9 p.m.
Sierra Vista Campus, Student Union

Enjoy an exciting night of video horse racing. Pick your horse, watch them race and get ready to win big! Don your biggest, fanciest hat for the Derby-style hat parade and a chance at a prize!

Horse Sponsorship
Super Glue or Bacon and Leggs? Who’s it gonna be? Experience the thrill of racehorse ownership by buying and naming your horse and jockey by Friday, April 5, 2019.

Proceeds benefit the Graduating Senior Scholarship Guarantee.

 

This is the third year of Cochise College’s video horse racing fundraiser. Guests have a wonderful time, but things might be confusing for the uninitiated.

Guests will use Cochise Bucks for the event. Cochise Bucks are fake money to be used on your favorite horses. If your horse wins, will receive Cochise Bucks as your prize.

A limited selection of alcohol, including wine, beer, mint juleps and two other specialty drinks will be available. Tickets for alcohol can be purchased at the ticket booth and then turned in at the bar.

An auction will include a variety of donated items for which high bidders can pay with cash or credit card at the conclusion of the auction.

Sample evening:

5 p.m.          Reception – Cash Bar – Silent Auction Browsing – Menu Served – Betting Windows Open – Photo Opps until 7 p.m.

6 p.m.          Race 1

6:30 p.m.     Race 2 and Hat Parade (winner gets 50 Cochise Bucks)

7 p.m.           Race 3

7:30 p.m.      Race 4: Daily Double

8 p.m.           Race 5: Daily Double

8:15 p.m.      Silent Auction Closes

8:30 p.m.      Race 6

8:45 p.m.      Silent Auction Winners Announced

A variety of sponsorship levels are available, from owning a horse to sponsoring a race. Potential sponsors may contact Eva Dickerson, 520-515-3690, dickersone@cochise.edu. You also can commit to and pay for a sponsorship by completing the sponsorship form. Final sponsor deadline is March 15, 2019 or when slots are filled.

Race Sponsor ($1,000)

  • 6 event meal bracelets
  • Logo on screen in between races
  • Banner announcing your sponsorship to hang at business in advance of event
  • Publicity in all planned media, including logo on website and in program above sponsored race
  • Horse owner (name one horse and jockey); print deadline Friday, April 5, 2019
  • Provide your own branded giveaways for 200 event participants; deliver to Jenn Wantz, wantzj@cochise.edu, by Friday, April 19, 2019.
