Last month, Cochise College held a transfer fair on both the Douglas and the Sierra Vista campuses. The transfer fairs were held to help students see what opportunities are available to them when planning to transfer to a university. Academic advisor at the college, Judy Sandstrom, said, “The benefit of having [a transfer fair] is that no matter what stage you’re in, you can see what options there are for you. You’re able to build a game plan for the future.”
Along with universities all over Arizona, there were representatives from New Mexico, Puerto Rico, and even online and global campuses. These representatives come to answer any questions that potential transfer students might have about the programs, the campus, admission requirements, and much more. It is also a good opportunity for students to figure out if attending university aligns with their life goals.
All the universities represented at the event work with Cochise College to ensure that they accept as many credits from the college as they can. A representative from New Mexico State University shared that some Arizona residents may qualify for in-state tuition. This is one example of helpful insights that students learned while attending the fair.
There was also a raffle held for people who spoke with representatives from at least five different universities. Anyone who did this was entered for a chance to win some Cochise College merchandise.
The universities that sent representatives to join the fair included, Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, New Mexico State University, Wayland Baptist University, NUC University, Grand Canyon University, and University of Arizona Main, Online, Global Campus, Distance, South, International Admissions, and College of Engineering, Intelligence, and Information Operations.
Anyone who was unable to attend the fair can still get information on transferring. Advising at Cochise College can help to answer any questions and point students in the right direction.
