Cochise Newsroom
As summer approaches, Cochise College is inviting families across Cochise County to give students something more than just a way to pass the time. This year's summer camps aim to spark curiosity, build confidence and introduce young people to future career paths through hands-on learning experiences in Sierra Vista and Douglas.
For many students, summer can be a season of discovery. At Cochise College, that possibility
may look like exploring entrepreneurship, creating art, learning about healthcare
careers, studying genetics or imagining entirely new worlds.
Beginning in June, Cochise College will offer 15 summer camps for students ages 11
to 18. The camps will run from 8 a.m. to noon and cost $20 each, making them an affordable
opportunity for families looking for summer activities. Spots are still available.
New this year, the college is expanding camps into the City of Douglas, bringing additional
opportunities directly into the community.
Brenda Kurtz, Director of Early College, said the camps help students explore interests,
gain new skills and experience a college environment in a welcoming and supportive
way. "These camps give students an opportunity to discover what excites them," Kurtz
said. "Sometimes one experience, one instructor or one class can completely change
how a young person sees their future or what college is."
