College receives 2026 Highly Established Action Plan Seal for nonpartisan democratic engagement efforts.
Cochise College has earned national recognition for its work to help students become informed, active participants in their communities and the democratic process.
The college received the 2026 Highly Established Action Plan Seal from the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge for developing a strong, nonpartisan democratic engagement plan focused on civic learning, political engagement and student voter participation. Cochise College is one of 233 campuses nationwide to earn the recognition so far for the 2026 election cycle.
Cochise College’s 2026 action plan scored 29 out of 32 possible points, exceeding the 28-point threshold required for the Highly Established designation. Plans are evaluated using the Strengthening American Democracy Action Planning Rubric, which examines how institutions build leadership, establish goals, develop strategies and create sustainable approaches to democratic engagement.
“Increasing nonpartisan civic engagement is important to Cochise College,” Andy Espinoza, co-chair for the college's civic engagement committee, said. “We’re honored to be one of 233 institutions to receive the 2026 Highly Established Action Plan Seal for our work supporting the next generation of voters.”
The recognition reflects an approach that reaches beyond encouraging students to cast a ballot. Civic engagement efforts can help students understand the voting process, find reliable election information, learn about civic responsibility and develop habits of participation that can continue long after college.
Cochise College provides students and community members with nonpartisan voter education and civic engagement resources, including information about voter registration, upcoming elections, voting in Cochise County and opportunities for civic and service learning.
The ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge describes its work as helping colleges and universities strengthen nonpartisan student democratic engagement and develop an “active and informed citizenry.” The national initiative provides participating institutions with resources, support and recognition for efforts that strengthen civic learning, political engagement and voter participation.
