Young artists featured at World's Unseen Youth Art Exhibit

For some young artists in Douglas, seeing their work displayed publicly for the first time could be life changing.

Cochise College and the City of Douglas invite the community to the World's Unseen Youth Art Exhibit and Reception at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at the Douglas Visitor Center, 345 16th Street in Douglas.

The free event will showcase the artwork by students who participated in the college's summer camp in Douglas. The exhibit allows our youth to share what they created with their families, friends and community.

"The exhibit is an opportunity to celebrate what our young artists imagined and created during their summer camp experience," said Abe Villarreal, Douglas Campus dean. "We hope families and community members will join us in recognizing their creativity and encouraging them to continue exploring their interests."

Artist and instructor Lisa Kindle led the students through the creative process. "I'm excited to return to Douglas for this event. I met so many wonderful people during the summer camp," Kindle wrote in a Facebook post. "For some of these students, this may be the first time their artwork has been featured in an exhibit. I'm looking forward to seeing them share their creativity with the community, their friends and their families."

The public is invited to stop by, view the students' artwork and celebrate the young artists. Visitors can also participate in interactive art activities and meet with the students.

Light refreshments will be served.
