    Overview

Cochise College offers two options for students who want to improve their English skills: Adult Education (free, no college credits) and English for Academic Purposes (tuition-based; for-credit). Visit the Adult Education page to learn more. Information about English for Academic Purposes classes is below.

English for Academic Purposes consists of four levels of courses; these courses help students improve their skills in oral communication, reading, grammar, and writing in preparation for continued higher education at Cochise College and beyond.

These courses are for-credit; eligible students may receive financial aid.

All classes are located on the Douglas Campus and are taught during the fall and spring semesters, with different scheduling options available Monday through Thursday from 8:45 am - 3:00 pm.

Students are placed into the appropriate level based on their scores on the ACCUPLACER ESL Placement Test. Instructor evaluation, self-identification and/or advisor recommendation may be considered in addition to ACCUPLACER ESL Placement Test scores.

ESL Levels I-III consist of four classes, typically taken at the same time for full-time students. ESL Level IV consists of additional ESL support courses along with developmental or college-level courses.
