Adult Basic Education (ABE) is a program designed to help adults build and strengthen important skills like reading, writing, math, and problem-solving. These classes are offered in both Face-to-Face and Hyflex formats to meet you where you are at and help you reach your next goal, whether that’s preparing for your High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma, improving your job opportunities, getting ready for career training, or continuing to college.

In short: ABE gives you the foundation you need to move forward in school, work, and life.

Earn your Arizona High School Equivalency (HSE) Diplomaaccordian open close

The HSE diploma shows that you have the same knowledge and skills as a high school graduate.

Instead of earning credits in a traditional high school, you show what you’ve learned through one of three pathways:

  • The GED® Testing Pathway: Requires passing a series of tests in reasoning through language arts (RLA), math, science, social studies and the Arizona Civics Exam. You don't have to take all tests at once, you can space them out and go at your own pace.
Our program offers both Face-to-Face and Hyflex classes to help you prepare for the GED® by focusing on the key subjects covered in each test.
  • The College Credit Pathway is an option for adults seeking to obtain their High School Equivalency (HSE) Diploma in Arizona by demonstrating completion of 25 specific college credits along with passing the AZ Civics Test. High School Equivalency College Credit Pathway | Arizona Department of Education
  • The HSE PLUS Career Readiness Pathway is a way for adult education students in Arizona to earn HSE Diploma through earning points in key areas that show both academic skills and career readiness, along with passing the Arizona Civics Test. HSE PLUS Career Readiness Pathway | Arizona Department of Education

In short: Your HSE diploma is your ticket to new opportunities in work, school, and so much more!

Learn & Practice English (ESOL)accordian open close

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) gives you the tools to succeed in school, work, and everyday life. We offer literacy instruction to help non-native English speakers improve their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Whether you’re just starting out or already have some English, our classes are designed to help you:

  • Gain confidence in conversations
  • Succeed in college and career training
  • Open new job opportunities
  • Navigate daily life with ease

These classes are offered in a Face-to-Face format and are the first step toward bigger goals—earning a high school diploma, entering an IET program, or moving forward in your career.
