Exercise Science
Overview
he Fitness and Wellness Associate of Arts degree is intended for students interested in fitness, recreation, or sports, and it is designed for transfer into university degree programs in exercise physiology, physical education teaching, and/or fitness wellness. To ensure seamless transfer, students must develop their specific program of study in close coordination with a Cochise College advisor.
Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete this program will be able to do the following:
- Describe the physical, structural, and functional characteristics of tissues and the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems.
- Analyze the organization and interrelationships of the endocrine, cardiovascular, respiratory, lymphatic, urinary, digestive, and reproductive systems.
- Apply principles of nutrition and wellness to develop educational strategies that promote healthy behaviors and lifestyles.
- Design a personalized program that integrates principles of nutrition and exercise for health improvement.
- Evaluate and communicate theoretical and practical approaches that support current practices in wellness and optimal health.
